O Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) αποτελεί ίσως έναν από τους πιο ολοκληρωμένους αναβάτες ιστιοσανίδας στην κατηγορία WAVE. Eνα από τα πολλά του πλεονεκτήματα είναι η δυνατότητα του να μπορεί να εκτελεί κόλπα και κινήσεις στο ίδιο υψηλό επίπεδο και όταν βρίσκεται δεξίνεμος αλλά και αριστερήνεμος.
Κάποιες από τις πιο σημαντικές του στιγμές θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς ότι είναι η κατάκτηση του τίτλου το 2013 στην κατηγορία WAVE αλλά και το 2007 στην κατηγορία Freestyle.
Πριν λίγες μέρες ο αθλητής παραχώρησε μια σύντομη συνέντευξη στον διαδικτυακό τόπο του πρωταθλήματος PWA στην οποία αναφέρεται στην χειμερινή του προετοιμασία , στις επιδόσεις του τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια αλλά και στους στόχους της φετινής χρονιάς.

Hey Marcilio, how’s it going and how was your winter?
All good, winter was fun. Did a trip to Chile which was great, 2 weeks of sailing and a week of perfect surf. Love going there, we always get a chance to sail a big range of conditions and it never gets flat. After that stayed on Maui, the wind started a little late, but once it did it never stopped. Been great to get into a routine, stay in one place for a while and get a lot of hours sailing.
You are now back in Gran Canaria preparing for the first event of the year – how’s your prep going?
Been okay, I kind of got here right after a really good week and since then conditions have been a little slow. It’s been good to sail a bit in other spots, going to the gym and just relax pretty much. This week we have a good forecast showing once again, today should be the first good day :)).
In 2015 things didn’t quite go your way, but last year it looked like you were back to your best – did you change anything in your approach or do you just think its part of competition sailing?
My approach is the same, i was feeling very good with my sailing back in 2015 but i don’t know, things didn’t happen for me. Last year was definitely better and I am stoked with how I sailed some heats, but i was also able to pick things I had to improve on, which I focused on over the winter. Basically my approach is the same every year, try to sail as much as possible, train a bit out of the water when the conditions slow down, eat healthy and have fun!
You completed the overall top 3 last year – how are you feeling coming into the new season and what is your goal for the year?
I feel good and my gear feels amazing. My goal is to keep pushing my own level during heats, learn from my mistakes and enjoy every time i go sailing.
